Ancient Celtic and pre Celtic monument on the slea head drive on the Dingle peninsula . One of the finest examples of ancient settlements in ireland

Ancient Celtic settlements with an Underground souterrain which leads to an underground stone building where they stored food and hid from enemies. Druids performed rituals here until they slowly converted to Christianity from 450 AD. This is one of the most impressive monuments in the country.

Enjoyed seeing the interesting stone structures of the ancestors. Quite the views of the ocean and the surrounding mountains. Definitely low on amenities but super high on spectacular beauty. About 2 hours from Shannon airport and 2 hours from Killarney.

This historic site is so well preserved that it is very immersive; you can almost feel that the inhabiting Celts lived there not so long ago.

Ancient stone settlements

Cashel Murphy is on the Dingle peninsula ,Slea head drive , just after ,where the river crosses the road at Gleanfahan,Ventry. This is  an ancient Celtic and pre Celtic settlement, and is one of the best examples of a stone settlement in the country, where five families lived ,and where the Druids performed rituals. It also has an underground souterrain ,a tunnel which leads to an underground building ,wher they stored food and grain, and also hid from enemies. The image of the sphinx is carved on a stone underground , which we believe is about 4000 B.C.
